MAIN TASKS OF VARIATIVE SOCIOLINGUISTICS

Abstract

The article deals with the problems of studying linguistic variability within the framework of the sociolinguistic approach, reveals the concepts of variability, variability and variance, identifies factors that affect the manifestation of the variability of the language system. Variation is manifested at all levels of the language and is characterized by a variety of types and species. Language variants are socially conditioned, they are united according to the criterion of evaluation by the speaker of a conscious choice and use as the main specific language variant. Language variability depends on certain parameters, and language variants may change depending on them, it should be noted the need to identify the language basis, influencing which these factors determine the use of one or another of its variants. In this case, we are talking about the fundamental concept of sociolinguistics – the language norm.
